As a Financial Professional with The Connecticut Group, Joseph V. Barbetta, CFP®, RICP® focuses on wealth accumulation and income distribution planning for individuals and families.
With an understanding of your objectives, your tolerance for risk and your time horizon, Joe and his partners will help you create a long-term investment strategy utilizing one or more of a variety of investment platforms. Upon retirement, he will craft an efficient income strategy that takes into consideration your changing needs during retirement, as well as your legacy and estate objectives. He will also strengthen the foundation of your financial plan by presenting insurance strategies that are built to evolve with your changing needs for family protection, estate preservation and business planning. Finally, he will provide ongoing follow-up to ensure that your strategies remain current and on schedule.
Joe joined Equitable Advisors in November of 2000. In March of 2004 he attained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional designation and in October 2006 was awarded the title of Retirement Planning Specialist by Equitable Advisors based upon the successful receipt of a Certificate in Retirement Planning from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. In February of 2018 he attained the Retirement Income Certified Professional® professional designation.* In April 2021 he attained the Chartered Financial Consultant® professional designation.
Joe was raised in Rockville, MD and attended the Fairfield College Preparatory School in Fairfield, CT before obtaining a bachelor's degree in public relations from Marquette University in 1993.
Joe is a long-time American Cancer Society® volunteer, having served as Chair of the Southern & Western New England Board and is currently a Legislative Ambassador representing Fairfield County for the American Cancer Society's Cancer Action Networksm. An avid hockey fan, Joe spent 7 years working in professional hockey and co-founded the first-ever youth hockey program in Santa Fe, NM.
